The LORD My Rock

It seems that whenever I make a choice to do something to draw closer in my journey with the LORD all kinds of things start happening...usually not good. This week I did something that is very hard for me...but found after a bit that I enjoyed myself. I even decided that I was going to continue doing it...and then I met with all kinds of opposition. GOD is good though and it didn't ruin my night. Then this morning I started a new year long devotional, Choosing Joy by Angela Thomas. Since I am behind...because I just bought it...I did a whole week this morning. I'm thinking that this book is great and I should really learn a lot from it. Lots of scriptures and she asks questions that make me think. Good devotion time. Then it was time to take my puppy Bear to get his shots. Well, while going downstairs to leave somehow I missed the last three steps and fell...landed on my right knee, wrist and yes...even my head hit the floor! When I was finally able to move again it was off to the vet. It's a big office with lots of rooms but guess where they stuck me. The same room where just 8 weeks ago I said good bye to Zach my Cocker Spaniel. So, I'm thinking about all of this and I have decided this...

1 Thessalonians 5:18

give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

These are all small things and I will not let any of this get me down. When bigger trials come, as I'm sure they will, I am still going to continue in my journey this year to draw closer to the LORD. Nothing that happens is going to deter me. I may have a setback or two but I am determined to accomplish what the LORD wants me to accomplish this year. HE has a plan for my life and I need to do what HE wants me to do. There may be attacks and trials but the LORD will see me through them.

How about you. Is He talking to you about changes you need to make in your life this year? Do you need to draw closer to the LORD? Has HE put things in your path that will help you to draw closer to HIM? If HE has, be sure to stay as close as you can. Draw on HIM for the strength you will need to accomplish what HE has set before you. As long as we stay close to HIM we have nothing to fear.

Psalm 18:2

The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
      my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
   He is my shield, the power that saves me,
      and my place of safety.

Remember to always praise HIM for everything...even when life happens! Prayer and praise keep us close to the LORD. HE is the one who gives us strength for the journey.

Exodus 15:2

The LORD is my strength and my song;
      he has given me victory.
   This is my God, and I will praise him—
      my father’s God, and I will exalt him!

Opposition from Satan, yes oh yes I am very familiar with this. This is something that really tripped me up for a while. You see, I use to think that if you walked closely with God things would be smooth because He is watching out for you. Well, this has not been true for my life at all. It seems the closer I grow to God the more Satan attacks me and my family. I always thought I was doing something terribly wrong until I met my spiritual parents and they told me not to worry about it. You see the closer to draw to God and want to do His work the more Satan will attack you especially if there is a big calling on your life.

Satan wants a lazy, quiet Christian. One who goes to socials, and pray meetings and does 'their life'. Satan is on the attack if he see's you growing and doing God's work, spreading the Gospel and converting others into the Kingdom. This he opposes greatly and he tries to knock you out. God wants us to push through this, one to grow us in ways that will benefit us and others, and two to flatten Satan in our path and nil and void his work. You see, when we wear our armour Satan will still attack but we are protected and no harm will come to our soul but only growth in Jesus will develop.

It is hard to do but God did promise us that He will not put more on our shoulders than what we can handle and He is pulling along side of us.

These lessons are hard but keep the faith, that is what I am learning.

Whenever we make a move to draw closer to God satan will do everything to keep you from doing that. I remember the night before I was supposed to be baptized a bat somehow got into my house, I had to go sleep somewhere else that night. The next morning, which was Sunday, I missed church because I trying to find that bat and get it out of my house, I thought I was going to miss my baptism too but I did make it and it was the best day ever.

I am a Jesus girl, that is what I tell satan when he tries to get in my way, that and some good ole worship on my knees, I belong to Jesus and he flees because satan can't stand to hear the name of Jesus.

Blessings to you Chelle.
