Find Your Spiritual Sea Legs

Philippians 4:19

19 And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Do you ever feel like your just going through the motions and things aren't really how they should be between you and the Lord? I don't mean that you've turned your back on God...or your deliberately sinning...but maybe your kind of hanging on the edges...the perimeter...of where you once were in your relationship. I'll step out, be a little transparent, and tell you I have for a while now. I've been on a downward trend and don't even know why. What I do know is I don't like it. I am not happy in this place. So tonight I was reading my bible and then decided to read a devotional. The word vessel was used and as soon as I read that word I knew this...

God was trying to speak to me and I needed to listen!

A vessel is a container. When it's empty it's like a cavity...just a hole needing to be filled. As in; an empty vessel needs to be filled.

What do you use to fill your vessel when it's empty? You know...the spot inside of you that at times feels like an empty hole...a cavity. Right in the middle where nothing seems to be. Where all you feel is a gnawing hunger that you just can't seem to satisfy! At times it's hard to know what to do. Sometimes trying to fill that space is like trying to find your sea legs when you're on a ship in rough water...

At first you try to stand up but you find your wobbly...stumbling...maybe even fall down. But eventually you get a grip...right yourself, stand up straight and start walking again. You've found your sea legs!

The same goes for that gnawing hunger inside of you...that ache. You need to find your spiritual sea legs again. You need to reach out to the Lord...take His hand and let Him lead and guide you. Let Him take you where you need to go...in Him...until your standing strong again. Commune with Him on a level that lets you get your spiritual sea legs back. You might wobble and stumble a bit at first but soon...with the Lords help...you will stand strong again. He will fill that empty vessel...cavity...inside of you to overflowing once again. You will soon feel His presence with you again...His joy...His peace. One more time you will know it was His grace that gave you the strength you needed to stand again.

So that's my goal for the days ahead. To get my spiritual legs back.To be able to stand...unshakeable...and get off the perimeter. I know that I can't live this life without holding on to the hand of Jesus. He is my strength...my rock...my refuge.

Psalm 16:8

I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

Hi Chelle,
The Christian walk today is a very tough walk. It always has been rough but as we approach the return of Jesus the walk becomes harder because of all the social input that is around us and the increase of the demonic attack.

I have noticed an increase of Scriptural unsound preachers and posters floating around Facebook, twitter and such. Satan is so deceiving and tricking so many people into believing God will provide comfort and peace to Christians. Which this is true and good but the focus is put on self and not on God. That's the twist. So much twisted Scripture with the point being God has GOOD things for the Christian. No wonder so many Christians, me included, have to re-evaluate our goal which is treasures in heaven and suffering here on earth.

Lifting you up hon and praying for a hedge of protection around you.

I just read that scripture yesterday. It made me think of a Matt Redman song called "We Shall Not be Shaken". I have been desperate for more of God, wanting to be overflowing. I know that He is faithful so I just keep praying and reading and waiting for the next filling. I think the key is just peace no matter what, knowing that God is in control. He loves us! He forgives us! He is for us! He has great plans for us even if they are challenging! He never leaves us! He equips us! He gave us the Holy Spirit! He is a great Father who loves to give gifts to His children and so much more!

This is such a great post and I LOVE the title.
I do need to work out this legs. I need to stand strong and know Jesus is with me always. When we start to feel afraid or lonely that's just the enemy. All these negative feelings are from Him, but the joy of the Lord is our strength.
I do question why Jesus does the littlest things for me. He helped me with a presentation I did yesterday. He calmed down my anxiety. Gotta love Him.
His all mercy, love, and jealousy.
Blessings and hugs ♥

What an amazing post Chelle; so good for me today! I know I need to make up my mind to keep a fiery zeal for God always in my heart and resist the devil by refusing to submit to any negative thoughts that could suppress my enthusiasm! We need to stay hot, not lukewarm! :) :)

Blessings on this Holy week good friend,
Denise

Hi Chelle,
I know I have my times when I feel like I am just going through the motions. The Christian walk is not always easy, sometimes we just get tired. Sometimes we let the cares of this world get in the way. When this happens to me, I find He is always there, He comes and brings me back. I pray that you get your spiritual legs back and pray that you have a blessed Resurrection Sunday.
