1 Peter 5:7

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Last night I had to make a conscience decision to do that. Just give it up and ask GOD to just calm me down and take all the anxious thoughts and feelings away. All day had been hard because I knew that I was facing another eye surgery if He didn't heal me. While I was sitting at my desk thinking about all of this 1 Peter 5:7 came to mind. If we can do what this verse says it works. I went to sleep and woke up not anxious at all.

Well...I am having surgery today but it's okay. I know that God will be with me and it will turn out alright. The doc told me he is trying to save my eyesight by doing this. I'm all for that but I believe that God is the one who will preserve my eyesight. It may be through the doc...but it will be HIM! God is good and He does take care of us. I told the doc that I would be praying that surgery (stage two this time) works...different doc than before. He told me that was a good thing to be doing.

I am looking at this next 8-10 days as a time to get lots of rest...no choice in that...and in a couple of days catching up on some reading. Probably I will spend much more time talking to God than I normally do and that will be a good thing. The one thing I will miss is going to church. We have a special service this week and I was looking forward to it. I'm hoping they will be putting it on DVD. Not the same but better than nothing.

Sometimes life takes unexpected turns. Who would think that in less than 8 months I would have two eye surgeries? Not me! But...maybe it's a good thing. God uses circumstances in our lives for growth. I'm not saying He caused this to happen because we all know that "life" just happens! I am saying that when "life" does happen that all of those things can be turned into something good. For instance...I know that if not for God last night I wouldn't have gotten any sleep. If not for God I would be veeeery anxious today. If not for God I might not have a good job with insurance to help me pay for this! Most of all...if not for God I wouldn't even be sitting here now writing this.

I like the 23rd Psalm. To me it is a comforting feeling because He is here with us doing all of this.

Psalm 23 (AMP)

A Psalm of David.
1THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
2He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.
3He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him--not for my earning it, but] for His name's sake.
4Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.
6Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

Hi Chelle,
I realize that by the time I'm writing this comment you will have already been through your surgery. I am trusting the outcome to be successful, and although you may not be reading this for another couple of days I want you to know I am praying for your swift recovery, and for the Lord to continue to keep you in a state of peacefulness as you talk with and listen to Him in that refreshing pasture of restful healing.
God Bless

Hi Chelle,
I am praying for your eye surgery. Yes God is always with His children and He turns everything to good, to those who love Him and are called to His service.
The 23rd Psalm sure is a comforting Psalm, isn't it?
God bless,
Ken
